How To Make Turkey Burgers

The dish

Organic, free range ground turkey, fresh chili and mango chutney all combined to create these delicious burgers. To complete the masterpiece I add a refreshing mango salsa served over tender butter lettuce. On the side are crispy, yet soft sweet potato fries that have been seasoned to perfection.

I get the question a lot wondering, How To Make Turkey Burgers? So many followers ask me what the secret is to creating moist and tender turkey burgers. Well, I have the answer! These turkey burgers are probably the best and most moist burgers you will ever have.

What I love about this dish is it’s a great source of clean protein, it is sweet and savory, creating the perfect taste in every bite. The Mango Chutney in these Turkey Burgers is the secret because it aids to reduce the natural dryness of the Turkey meat. Another plus is that this dinner can be ready in 30 minutes or less and is perfect for spring or summertime.  I have linked the mango chutney , to make it easy to buy. You can find it at almost any grocery store. I chose this brand because it has clean, minimal ingredients and tastes great!

My inspiration

My inspiration comes from all over, I have a knack for coming up with recipes relatively easily. I was actually on the phone with one of my siblings, and they asked what they could cook with some ground turkey. The recipe sort of just came to me, and the next day it became apart of my Anti-Inflammatory recipe line. Inspiration comes from all over, don’t be afraid to make your ideas apart of your reality.

I actually like coming up with healthy recipes that are fun, full of flavor and variety! I enjoy eating healthy, but sometimes eating healthy can get boring. With these turkey burgers they are anything but boring and have such unique flavor. I usually try to make extra so I can have them the next day for lunch. They are so good!

Lets get cooking!!

Okay, without further ado… the cooking begins.

I started preheating my oven to 425 in order to save a little bit of time while I get everything prepared.

While that preheats, I peeled 2 medium Sweet Potatoes. Cutting the Sweet Potatoes in half vertically, and then into small fry like sticks. By no means does this have to be perfect, their imperfections give them character! After your sweet potatoes are in fry shape, place them on a baking sheet. Add 1 tbsp. of Seasoning Salt, and lightly drizzle Avocado Oil on top. Using your hands toss the sweet potatoes until the oil evenly covers the slices. These will go into the oven for 15 minutes, until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.

While those are in the oven, add 1 lb. of Ground Turkey, 2 tbsp. of chopped Green Onion, and half of the chopped Jalapeno (about 1 Jalapeno) to a large mixing bowl. Add 1 tsp of Liquid Seasoning, 1 tbsp. of the Mango Chutney, and 2 Eggs into the same bowl with the Turkey. Combine these ingredients thoroughly and set the mixture aside.

To a large pan over medium/high heat, drizzle Avocado Oil. Form the Turkey mixture into patties, to do this roll the meat in your hands, once you have a small ball of meat, lightly flatten the turkey ball. Place them in the pan once they are shaped. Cooking the patties for about 7-8 minutes on each side was the sweet spot.

While the patties are cooking, I used this time to make the Mango Salsa. Peel and dice 1 Mango, place this in a small/medium bowl. Add in 1/4 cup of finely chopped Cilantro, 2 tbsp. of a diced Red Onion, and the remaining 1/2 of the Jalapeno. Finally combine 1 tsp of Garlic Salt and mix the Salsa well.

How to serve

As a low carb option, I placed my Turkey patties on a bed of Butter Lettuce, I’m sure a regular bun would be just as delicious, maybe lightly toasted. I topped mine with the Mango Salsa and had the Sweet potato fries on the side. It was so delicious and refreshing it will definitely be a hit this summer!

This Recipes Health Benefits

This recipe is apart of my Anti-Inflammatory line of meals. There are many benefits to eating Turkey compared to Red Meat. For those interested in eating lean meats, Turkey is a great option. It is a great source of protein and has vitamin B6 as well as Tryptophan, which aids in your bodies protein intake, muscles and enzymes; all essential to the overall function and health of your body.

I also used Sweet Potatoes in this recipe compared to regular potatoes. Sweet Potatoes are a great source of vitamin C, potassium and Beta Carotene. Potassium is essential to to healthy tissues within your body, and Beta Carotene is converted to Vitamin A. Vitamin A is known as a vital nutrient for vision. It also plays a critical role in cell growth and in maintaining healthy organs like your heart, lungs, and kidneys.

It is crucial to get all the fresh produce into your diet as regularly as possible. Not only do the Mango in this dish add the perfect sweet element, but it also is a great support to your bodies immune system. Mangos are low in calories, and are fantastic for your heart and digestive health.
